The following instructions are for John Deere planters using SeedStar.
To load a VR rec from Advantage Acre® into your John Deere Gen 4 monitor please follow these steps:
1. Before loading VR prescription onto a USB drive, you must first unzip the shapefile. To unzip the files, right click on the zipped (compressed) folder. Select “Extract All”
2. After extracting the files, place all contents of the unzipped folder into a new folder named “Rx” on the USB drive that’s inserted into your computer.
Note: This folder must be named “Rx” or the monitor will not recognize it.
3. The Rx folder should contain 3 VRx file types for each field (.shp, shx and .dbf). Multiple fields can be in one Rx folder. Then, properly eject the USB drive from your computer (Right click > Eject).
4. Plug the USB drive containing the “Rx” folder, into your monitor. After a few seconds, your monitor will show a screen titled USB Drive Options; select Import Data.
5. From the next File Manager screen, select Next. Select the folder and then Next
6. Select the data types - Rx folder – Prescriptions then Import. After your Rx has successfully imported, you may remove your USB Drive and select OK.
7. You may now close the two Import Screens, by selecting the X in the top right corner, and you’ll return back to the Default Tractor Run Page.
8. Select the Setup button in bottom left corner, to begin setting up your planting activity
9. Confirm your equipment is recognized on the left-hand side and your Crop and Variety are correct on the right side of the screen. Select the button next to the Target Rate/Rx.
